EC BREC IEO Ltd. is an independent consultancy company, established in 2001 and owned by experts employed so far by the EC BREC/ IBMER (public research unit established by the European Commission in 1994). EC BREC/IEO was established to link typical research, technology and policy development activities originally carried out by EC BREC/ IBMER, with thecurrent needs of renewable energy sector, including industry, private companies, investors and authorities in Poland in the field of renewable energy.
In EC BREC IEO Ltd the personal knowledge and experience of experts is used to enhance synergy of measures undertaken by governmental and public institutions, and the activities of private energy enterprises and investors to support sustainable development and wider utilisation of renewable energy in Poland.
The scope of relevant activities of EC BREC IEO Ltd covers: • Assistance to the national government in preparation of legal regulations, policies, strategies and programmes to develop wider utilisation of renewable energy in Poland; • Assistance to local and regional governments and other local/ regional market actors (energy companies, utilities, industry) in elaboration of strategies and identification of investment possibilities in utilisation of renewable energy sources on local and regional levels; • Research activities and development studies, demonstration and pilot projects of investments in renewable energy technologies; • Promotion and dissemination of information and good practices to enhance wider uptake of RES technologies; • Transfer of technologies and results from RTD projects to industry and most promising groups of potential technology end users; • Technical and economical appraisal of renewable energy projects for financial institutions and post-investment audits of some technical and environmental issues of renewable energy projects.
To implement these activities EC BREC IEO Ltd operates a team of 22 highly qualified specialists, employed temporarily on the contract basis, with sound expert background in economy, policy studies, energy system analysis, and technology development especially in renewable energy sector. This expertise has been utilised in many projects carried out for and in cooperation with private energy companies as well as with the central and local governments.
The expertise of EC BREC/IEO and its experts have been proved by the successful management and implementation of different projects sponsored by the European Commission, Polish government, international agencies and private sector.
